Sleeping Pills That Worked Too Good11.01.08

The kids’ sport season is almost over, and in a way, I’m happy.  It has been constant running around here or there, and I can finally relax, even if it’s only for two months.  I’m sitting here watching “The Curse of the Living Corpse,” and I don’t want to do anything but do nothing at home.  I’ve been suffering from horrible insomnia.  Yesterday I woke up at 4:30 in the morning, and I still wasn’t able to fall asleep at 4:00 a.m. today.  Grover had to give me sleeping pills, so I could at least sleep.  I didn’t wake up til 2:15 p.m., and that was forcing myself to wake up.  I’m exhausted so no going anywhere.

Halloween night was fun.  The kids got tons of candy in my aunt’s neighborhood.  It’s like they are still stuck in the 80’s, so the majority of the people still give out candy, and there are tons of kids.  They went home with their father, and I went to Grover’s.  We played Scrabble cause he says he is the Scrabble King.  Last weekend, he beat me.  I beat him during the week, and I beat him again.  He felt pretty silly.  I think it was that he challenged my word “hived,” and was wrong.  After that, we were hungry so we headed to Silver Diner.

Everyone and their mom was there with their costumes on.  The girls in front of us and us were laughing at this guy macking on this girl.  The girls and I were perturbed because the girl was allowing the guy to feel her leg as though he had known her forever.

One of the girls said what I was thinking, “If a guy ever felt me up like that, I would break his arm.”

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Halloween, and that they are still eating candy. =)

Haunted Forest Full of Frights and Laughs10.20.08

This weekend, my friend and I headed to my Advenure Meetup’s Haunted Forest and Barn Yard party.  It was an hour away in some part of Maryland.  It was kind of freaky because it was close to where they filmed he Blair Witch Project.  Being a horror film fan, I was excited and frightened to be in the area.  We arrived at our destination, and we knew instantly it was going to be a blast.

The last tour to the Haunted Forest was about to start, so we signed up right away.  The tour was composed of eight people:  A nun (friend), a zombie Soviet Union soldier, freaky monster, Urkle, Cleopatra, a couple of Planet of the Apes, and a Convict (me).  We arrived at the gate where one of the witches told us that earlier that day a girl had literally peed her pants.  We knew we were in for a scare, but we didn’t know it was going to be accompanied by laughs.

We quickly became friends with the Zombie Soviet Union soldier.  He was the last in line.  The entire time we were screaming, he was laughing at us.

“This isn’t scary.  It’s just super funny.”

We headed into a little shack where went off in different ways.  The next thing Laura and I hear is a woman screaming.  We turn around to see the poor woman who was given a fright.  It was the Soviet Soviet Union soldier.

My friend and I started laughing, and I said, “Wow Zombie, screaming like a bitch, aren’t you?”

He was embarrassed and replied, “Whatever, that wasn’t me.”

With each step we took, the trail became scarier and scarier.

A group was close behind us, and this man with a low voice was talking to his friend.  He must have been spooked because you hear a low scream quickly followed with “Shit, Motherfucka, Shit.”  The Zombie and I started laughing hysterically because he said what we were thinking.

We were in the middle, and my friend said, “I haven’t screamed at all.”

At that same moment, a monster who was lurking in the forest grabs her legs.  Her screams were heard throughout the forest.

The pair of Planet of the Apes disappeared at that same moment.  After the forest, we soon learned that the guy had been pushed in a bush and because he was super drunk, it had taken him five minutes to get out.

The final insult was about to occur.  I’m super afraid of chainsaws.  Even if they look fake, I will run the other way.

We were almost at the end of the forest, when we heard the sound of a chainsaw heading our way.  We turn around and see this short version of Leatherface heading our way.  I scream and get behind Cleopatra, a sweet, heavyset girl.  The replica decides to come after me.  We ran around her around three or four times while she stood as though she was a tree.

It was hysterical because we played peekaboo as I used her as the object to hide from the crazy, chainsaw guy.   After he had left me alone, I realized that was kind of rude and felt bad.  Everyone laughed around us because it was ridiculous to watch.

An enjoyable night full of laughs and fright.
