That’s a Bad Photo of Me; So What?

After seeing a FriendFeed post about celebrities without makeup, I decided to create this post.  I used to be one of those people who would immediately delete a photo that showed me in a bad light.  I have to even admit that I have removed tags from photographs that friends have posted as well.  I have the luxury that celebrities don’t get that I have the ability of deleting these bad photos of me before anyone can see them.

It doesn’t matter if you are the most beautiful person in the world, you have taken a bad picture.  There are so many things that contribute to a bad photograph – lighting, angle, mood, etc. – that you shouldn’t be ashamed to say “Hey, that’s me.”

Bad pictures should be embraced.  They don’t define or represent you, so why be ashamed?  Now that I have learned to not be so self-conscious about them, I find them pretty funny.  I know what I look like when I stare into a mirror.

I could show you tons of horrible pictures of me if my mom had an online photo album.  The running joke between my sisters and me is that my mom only takes  pictures of us when we are looking our worst.  When I was in labor, my mom was snapping away, and I got so angry because I was so worried that others would see them.  Now? I wish I wouldn’t have cared, so my mom could have taken more.

Below are pictures of me that I am not too keen on, but hey, they are of me, so who cares.

The Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy Chant That Never Ends

Last night I was sleeping and dreaming about winning a race when I start hearing, “Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy…” At first, I thought it was part of the dream. There is no way that someone would interrupt this wondrous moment. After another few minutes of this mommy chant, I open one eye to see my son standing next to the bed. He kept going, and then I finally said, “WHAT!” He stops. Finally after a few seconds, he responds.

“Can you move over?”

I moved over. If it weren’t for the fact that I was half asleep, I probably wouldn’t have been as nice as I was.

How do kids have the stamina to keep repeating the same word over and over again? I don’t even think they breathe when they are doing this? I wonder what would happen if I kept repeating my kids’ names over and over again. Would they also try and ignore it before finally yelling “WHAT!?” Or would they respond in a calm and collected manner?

All I know is that as much as any parent tries to not yell at their kids, whenever they begin the mommy or daddy chant, a parent loses any composure he/she thinks he/she has.

What I Will Do When Zombies Infest This World

ZombieFood

I have watched so many zombie movies and played zombie video games that I think I am an expert on what to do when they finally arrive. First, I would get my kids in the car and drive to a location that is in the mountains and surrounded by nothing for miles. On the way, I would get the following weapons:

1. Rifle

2. Bat

3. Knives

4. Bow and Arrow (dad taught me how to)

5. Grenades

I would try to get as many canned foods and water that I could.

When we arrive at the location, I would setup traps all around the place, so I can hear the zombies coming. I wouldn’t be idiotic like other people who make all this noise and have lights on everywhere. We would have to live in the dark, so no one could know that we are there. I would also ensure that I have a full tank of gas in case we have to leave the location and head some place else. If we can find an abandoned place with a basement, we would probably stay in the basement so we can have lights.

While we are there, I would always practice my shooting, so I can become a sharp shooter when those zombies head our way. I hope that day never comes because one thing that I fear are zombies. If zombies were to come, I hope they are George Romero zombies that are super slow and I can outrun. If those crazy, fast zombies were the ones who were to infest this world, then I don’t think that children and I would have a chance. =( Maybe I will be like Claire in Resident Evil who was super hardcore, and could terrorize those zombies in return.

Let’s just hope that day never comes.

After going grocery shopping, Cebastian, who doesn’t have school for two days due to parent/teacher conferences, and I went to his teacher conference. She said he is excelling at school, and that his behavior is getting better. I was pleasantly surprised. He was waiting outside the classroom for me. He asked me how he was doing?

I said, “Cebastian, you are doing amazing in school, and Ms. Seidel says you are doing better with your behavior.”

His response? “Mom? Don’t you feel sorry that you doubted me.”

I started laughing, and I said, “Sorry Cebastian, I shouldn’t have doubted you.”

He said, “That’s ok mom, I forgive you.”

Hahahahahaha….Crazy kid.
