Goodbye Kristine, We’ll Miss You Always

On 26 January, my little sister Kristine Polastre passed away. I’m devastated and feel like every moment that passes is harder and harder. I will be practically MIA for awhile until I am able to breathe without feeling any pain. I love you so much Kristine, and I hope to see you when I one day am gone.  Anie and I will always feel a void because without you, nothing feels right.

Here is something I wrote October that describes exactly the way I feel about her: My Sister, My Soulmate

After great pain a formal feeling comes–

The nerves sit ceremonious like tombs;
The stiff Heart questions–was it He that bore?
And yesterday–or centuries before?

The feet, mechanical, go round
A wooden way
Of ground, or air, or ought,
Regardless grown,
A quartz contentment, like a stone.

To the Polastre Family,

I am currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan. I was a very dear friend of Kristine. We were co-workers. I would always call her “babygirl”. She had the prettiest smile i have ever known. I know for a fact she is smile down on all her loved one.

I laugh just the other morning…i was thinking about Kristine and those long socks she always wear…the ones that go upto or past her knees. Kristine…Babygirl, you are one of a kind! i know that was her way of telling me she is okay.
