I Miss My Bike!
I haven’t really been on my bike since the Reston Tour de Cure. The only time that I have gotten on it was when I first got my new pedals and shoes. It was the first time that I had fallen off my bike too. Yes, whenever you get new pedals and shoes, be prepare to fall.
It has been a lack of time that has made me not ride on it. The only time that I have been able to use my new Shimano shoes has been during spin class. This weekend I plan on taking my bike out for a ride. They are calling for rain, so I hope that I am able to use it at least once.
Being on a bike is the most amazing feeling in the world. If you feel you are being bogged down by stress, you will forget all about your worries when you are riding on a bike. I remember that once scene in that movie “City of Angels” when Meg Ryan closes her eyes and spreads her arms out. I thought it was the dumbest thing ever for her to do. I still kind of do, but I can see why she did that. Every time I am on my bike, I feel like doing the same thing. I just have a little bit more sense.
This weekend I am getting my son a new bike, so the kids and I can go riding together. I might get myself a mountain bike if the price is right, so I will have a road bike and a mountain bike. Next weekend, on October 17th, there will be the first BikeDC.
BikeDC is when they clear the streets in DC and Arlington from any cars, and you are able to roam free without worrying about a head-on collision with any cars. I am doing it with my Meetup Group VeloDCity. I have to get ready cause I don’t even know if I can ride ten miles anymore.
One of the things that I wish is that Prince William County, where my parents live, would be a little bit more bike friendly. It seems like all over the DC area is become bike friendly, but Prince William County. If they were, I could drop the kids off at my parents, and take my road bike out. It’s one of the reasons that I want to get a mountain bike, so I can go on different trails with the kids.
If it rains, I will just have to bike on Sunday. It’s one of the things that I miss about telecommuting. I was able to bike to relieve stress. Now, I barely have the time. However, I plan to make more time for my beautiful blue bike.
