H. Pylori is No Laughing Matter
The pain was so intense that all I could do was wake up and double over. It had come and gone for a couple of days, but now it was worse. I didn’t sleep that entire night because my stomach pain made it impossible to. In the morning, I woke up and made an appointment to see the doctor.
When I arrived, the doctor tapped my back and middle part of my stomach. It made the pain the worse. She took some urine sample and saw some blood. Therefore, she took me to get an X-ray. I was worried at this point because I figured that she would never figure out what was wrong with me.
After taking the X-ray, she didn’t see anything, so she called another doctor to consult. They asked if I was a smoker, heavy drinker, ate a bad diet, wasn’t active, etc. All the answers were no. If you know me, you know that I have never smoked, rarely drink, are very healthy, and are super active. They were stumped.
Finally, they wanted me to get take some blood samples, which I did. I left discouraged. For weeks, I have barely been able to eat, and I dropped some weight. I wondered if this was my fate – to constantly be in pain. I was wrong.
I received an email from my doctor indicating that I had H. Pylori and Gastritis. For years, I’ve had stomach problems, but I never went to the doctor to check it out. Now I knew that I wasn’t crazy, and it made me feel so much better.
H. Pylori “ lives in the mucous lining of the stomach and may cause inflammation that could lead to an ulcer.” (WebMd). It increases your chances of stomach cancer and/or ulcers. The doctor prescribed some antibiotics to get rid of the inflammation. H. Pylori combined with Gastritis has to be monitored closely.
I still suffer from pain, but it has lessened since I started taking the antibiotics. Hopefully, I have found the problem early enough that I won’t develop ulcers. Reading some of the information, I think I have a good chance that I won’t. If you feel any stomach pains, don’t take risks. Go to the doctor.
